The Ukrainian Cultural Hub

My sister-in-law founded an organization that has been responding to Ukrainians who have been displaced since the war began. It is community-led and volunteer-driven. There are several local guest houses and their New Hamburg location has just started a new initiative to bring newcomers and Canadians together.

These are free cultural gatherings that are 1-3 hours in length. Donations are welcomed!

Experiences include:
- Food - cook a traditional Ukrainian dish together with newcomers and share the meal
- Art - create a piece of traditional art and learn how these symbols represent hope
- Culture - understand Ukraine's culture, history and war and why Canada matters in their story
- Mural - painting an outdoor community mural (weather permitting)

This week, we will gather at the New Hamburg Guest House and take part in these experiences. Those who do not want to participate could meet at the Mike Schout Wetlands Preserve for a fall hike.

If you haven't talked to me already, please respond with how many people from your family that you expect to attend so that our hosts can plan accordingly.

Please note: There is a small office building to the right of the house that has a parking lot for parking. To enter, go down the driveway and in the back door. I will plan to be there a bit early to welcome and direct you!
