Book Study Fall 2025 - My Body is Not a Prayer Request (Online via Zoom)

In many ways we worship a disabled God whose wounds survived resurrection. It is time for the church to start treating disabled people as full members of the body of Christ who have much more to offer than a miraculous cure narrative and to learn from their embodied experiences.
In this series we hope to gain meaningful insight into how the church has created barriers to participation for the disabled community. We will strive to learn how we are a part of this culture of exclusion that includes, but goes beyond the infrastructure of our buildings. Most importantly, we  will learn about how God’s image is present in all different kinds of bodies, and how disability is, in and of itself, a representation of God’s Kingdom on earth.

TimeFrame:

We will be offering both in person and online options for this series. We will be overlapping the in person and online groups, giving two weeks for participants to read through the required sections. There will be one final in person week for the group to have a chance to discuss as a whole.

• In Person: Mondays
  • Sept 22nd, Oct 6th, Oct 20th, Nov 3rd, Nov 17th
• Online: Tuesdays
  • Sept 30th, Oct 14th, Oct 28th, Nov, 11th, Nov, 25th. 
• Final Night: In Person - Dec 1st or 2nd (TBD in discussion with participants)
